Functional Behavioral Assessment

Our highly qualified Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) on students that engage in problematic behaviors that occur at school. The goal is to identify the behavior functions in order to develop positive behavior intervention plans which teach students a function-based replacement behavior as an alternative to problematic or challenging behaviors. The identified replacement behavior may then be taught within the context of Specialized Classroom Management (Boys Town Educational Model).

The Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) is a method of gathering data to determine the “function” of the problematic behaviors. The “function” of the behavior attempts to determine “why” the student engages in the problematic behaviors or the reason why a student engages in such behaviors.

Once the function is determined, a Positive Behavioral Intervention Plan is developed.
