Case Consultation

Public Schools often place students at a Non-Public School (NPS) because they do not have the resources to conduct more in-depth analysis, test different behavior interventions, and/or train their own staff members. The possibility of hiring a BCBA Master or Doctoral level employee from Bright Futures Academy may help maintain some students at the local public school. Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) from Bright Futures Academy are able to observe cases in the public school setting, conduct functional behavior assessments, develop behavior intervention plans, and further train the staff members from the public school to utilize and implement the behavior intervention plan. Systematic observations will follow and be faded systematically in which treatment integrity is assessed and the effectiveness of the plan is analyzed.

Functional Behavioral Assessment

Our highly qualified Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) on students who engage in problematic behaviors that occur in schools. The goal is to identify the behavior function(s) in order to develop positive behavior intervention plans which will teach students a function-based replacement behavior as an alternative to problematic or challenging behaviors.

The Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) is simply a method of gathering data to determine the "function" of the problematic behaviors. The "function" of the behavior attempts to determine "why" and "when" the student engages in the problematic behaviors.

Once the function is identified, a Positive Behavior Intervention Plan (PBIP) is developed. A PBIP is a very detailed plan that is based on information gathered during the Functional Assessment. The Positive Behavior Intervention Plan provides support and strategies that can be used to reduce the problematic behavior and replace it with another behavior that is more socially acceptable.

Board Certification Supervision Hours

One possible option to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is independent field work. Through its Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Bright Futures Academy is able to provide the required supervised hours by coming to your site, observing the BCBA or BCaBA candidate and meeting regularly with him/her. ABA Teaching Strategies Training

In order to provide our students with positive learning environments where skill acquisition is quick and effective, we utilize data driven and research-based curricula and strategies to teach academics, language development, functional skills, independent living skills, socialization and play skills, and transitions. Teaching strategies are based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and include Direct Instruction (DI), Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT) and Incidental Teaching. All of our students have individualized programs and supports based on academic and behavioral assessments in order to assist in helping students reach their full potential.
